Whee!
may not always be the best or fastest way around ;) but it is MY way around

Whee!
Earlier than expected 🙂

Made it to the optician’s before they closed 🙂
“Yes?”
“I broke my glasses…”
“I see. What is your name?”
“Jesse”
She wrote Jessie on a scrap of paper.
“Ok.I will mend them until tomorrow at 10 o’clock. Goodbye.” She took the pieces of glasses and the paper and disappeared into the back of the shop.
Not a lot I can say to that.
Especially since she’s the only optician in the vicinity.
Looks like I’m going to have a 25km joyride in the morning 🙂
James (Warmshowers guy) phoned me back to say I can stay 🙂
Now I just need to get my act in gear and do some cycling 🙂
“God will bless you on your journey to Stockholm. And back again.”

You know, I could get used to this wild camping malarkey..
Look at this:

My hostess seems to be really well prepared for unprepared guests 😉
My brother isn’t convinced:

Sitting here with my roast beef and stuffed peppers, my powerbanks charging in the background, I think I have to agree…

..it is gloriously civilised camping 🙂
No one should be this lucky, but I am SOO glad that I am 🙂
Less than 3km after I set off to ‘anywhere’ I found a farm.
I asked if I could stay and they said I could.
Turns out they have 4 rental properties and are inundated with guests but have a freshly mown orchard I can sleep on.

And here I am.
And it’s early enough that putting the tent up in sunglasses isn’t a problem..
There’s also a loo and a kitchen…and kitchens mean plugs and plugs mean electricity for powerbanks and laptops 🙂
Oh man, do I have it good 🙂
Everywhere is full…

Onwards and Eastwards…

Found (= cycled past) a supermarket (ICA) here in Borrby and remembered that I REALLY need a toothbrush – there’s a limit to what chewing gum can achieve – so stopped and parked the bike.

There’s the obligatory bottle of hand disinfectant dispenser inside the door, but no compulsory masks or trolleys.

I aimed for this sort because they come with a case for the bristley bit..

Then I noticed they all have different pictures on the handles 😲🤭
Crazy.
Of course I had to look at them all…

The bluetit brush had a tiny head.. The one with bees was nice but I’d have had to dig quite a long way back. And the robin’s good too 🙂

* lit approx. “whoever sits around, rusts”

Borrby church
Bit windy..
Don’t remember ever having to pedal downhill in a low first gear just to go forwards…

And this, dear children, is why you should pack your spare glasses.
And remember to put your glasses in the tent pockets when you take them off.
*sigh*
Time to find an optician…

The campsite toilets are locked and no ones around to let me in so I headed over to the loos in the car park. Unfortunately the cleaning lady arrived after I’d gone in.

Too dark for pictures of the main campsite or the tent.. 😦
Here’s the loo block:

Beer’s gone too. Looks like it’s water or Zero tabs again tonight..

Trying to decide whether to continue on the cycle path next to the road or turn off and go through the woods I saw this:

It’s the only place in as far as I can see where there’s an easy crossing.

Decision made.

Seen several of these along the beach.

🙂
Other beach huts on the same stretch of beach:

Disa must have been quite something..

..I’m having fish for lunch! (lit. “I’m eating a fish”)
I’m at the restaurant at the end of the World southernmost point of Sweden and they’re selling the kind of fish they only sell in this season (do fish have seasons??) and I didn’t buy ice cream, so it seemed like a good idea.
I have no idea what the menu says:

And I didn’t fancy the sound of ‘3 kinds of salmon’ or the look of some of the things people were eating.
But.
There was something that some people were eating that looked pretty good, so I went and asked for it in my best restaurant English 😉
“This one? Like fish&chips?” She smiled.
“Yup, please?” I smiled back.
Job done. I took the tray she handed me and found a table to sit at.
(Hah! As if life’s that easy. 😅
First the fork slid off the tray as I reached for my bike. Then everything else fell off as I bent down for the fork. Then the bike threatened to fall over. Arg. I gave up on the bike, took the computer off the front and went to the nearest table with space for the bike and sat down. Then I got back up and collected the bike, manoeuvring it slowly into position.)
Anyway.

Look at this!

Easily my best fish ever. And the batter! Ein Traum 🙂

There was a steady stream of people buying lunch,

eating lunch,

and clearing up after lunch,

No masks, no contact data, no officious people. Just happy well-fed people.
Admittedly it’s summer and it’s outdoors and warm and sunny, and granted, I haven’t eaten out much in a while, still feels good though.
And the fish was great 🙂

For all your zoo animal’s beauty needs…
Maybe?

…
…
I don’t know either.
Because what else might you need when on tour more than multi-coloured spoke-stars (or a name plate)?
Nothing.
Exactly.
And that’s why I stopped putting the tent away and put them on the bike instead.
Obvious really.
